Panthera vs CyberFOX

Elevation is one phase. Privileged access is eight.

AutoElevate does endpoint elevation well. Panthera covers the rest of the privileged access lifecycle on one platform: account discovery, a zero-knowledge vault, zero-knowledge credential rotation and just-in-time access for the technician identity.

Discovery and zero-knowledge credential rotation included

The phases neither AutoElevate nor CyberFOX Password Manager covers

Just-in-time beyond the workstation

Least privilege across servers, workstations, Entra ID and Google Workspace

Evidence, not a log export

The evidence your auditors and insurers ask for, generated on demand

Coverage

Eight phases of privileged access. CyberFOX covers two, with two products.

AutoElevate secures the workstation. CyberFOX Password Manager (formerly Password Boss) stores passwords. The service accounts nobody inventoried and the credentials nobody rotates sit outside both.

Phases 03 and 04

Credential rotation and zero-knowledge, in the same vault

A zero-knowledge vault keeps credentials unreadable at rest. Credential rotation keeps them from going stale. Panthera does both in one vault and stays zero-knowledge through every rotation, which is rare even in enterprise PAM.

Phase by phase

What each product does at every phase

Based on CyberFOX's public documentation. Where AutoElevate is strong, the table says so.

Phase
Panthera
CyberFOX AutoElevate
CyberFOX Password Manager
01

Discover & Assess

Included

Continuously finds every privileged identity, from admin accounts to end users with hidden admin rights, service accounts, AI agents, and break-glass accounts.

Partial

Finds which accounts are local admins on enrolled workstations. No discovery of domain, Entra ID, service or non-human identities.

Not offered

No privileged account discovery.

02

Remediation of Privileged Access

Included

Acts on what discovery finds, from the same platform: the privileged and service accounts across a client, not only the local admins on a workstation.

Partial

Removes local admin rights on managed workstations. Scoped to the endpoint.

Not offered

Not offered.

03

Zero-Knowledge Credential Vault

Included

Credentials, API keys and tokens are stored in an encrypted vault CyberQP cannot read in plain text, because CyberQP does not hold the encryption keys. Only authorized technicians can reach each credential, and every access is logged.

Not offered

No password vault of any kind.

Strong

Zero-knowledge password vault. A separate product, purchased separately.

04

Zero-Knowledge Credential Rotation

Included

Rotates shared, break-glass and service-account credentials on a schedule or on demand, for example when a technician leaves, across local, AD, Entra ID, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. The vault stays zero-knowledge through every rotation.

Not offered

No credential rotation.

Not offered

Stores credentials but does not rotate them.

05

MFA & Secure Access Enforcement

Included

Technicians reach privileged identities and their endpoints through their own MFA or passkey sign-in, including AD and local Windows accounts that cannot do MFA on their own. Enforcing MFA on every technician sign-in is coming to Panthera.

Partial

MFA on the technician mobile app for JIT admin login; Entra SSO into the console.

Not offered

Not offered.

06

Just-in-Time Access & Zero Standing Privilege

Included

Technician accounts stay disabled with no privilege by default, get the least privilege the task needs across servers, workstations, AD, Entra ID, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, then are disabled again. Optional second approval.

Partial

JIT Admin creates a temporary local admin on Windows workstations. JIT Domain Log In adds a technician's domain account to groups for a session, but the account isn't deleted and the groups aren't removed automatically. No JIT for Entra ID or Google Workspace.

Not offered

Not offered.

07

Auditing, Monitoring & Alerting

Included

Every privileged action is logged, and the evidence your auditors and insurers ask for is generated for you, on demand. It's a plain-language question away.

Partial

Detailed elevation logs, with automatic PSA tickets and time entries.

Not offered

Not offered.

08

Endpoint Privilege Management

Included

Removes standing local admin, approves safe elevations automatically based on a risk score and blocks unwanted app installs, on the same platform as the credential lifecycle.

Strong

Rules by machine, location, company or whole practice; mobile approvals; Blocker for living-off-the-land binaries. A native macOS agent for macOS 14 and later was announced in September 2026 and is still labeled beta in its release notes; rule-based elevation for Mac apps is in beta.

Why MSPs choose Panthera

The breach starts with the credential, not the workstation

Removing local admin protects the endpoint. An insurer, an auditor and an attacker each look for the accounts behind it first.

01

Elevation is phase eight. The breach starts in phases one to four.

Removing local admin protects the workstation. It does nothing about a domain admin password that has sat unchanged for eighteen months and that every technician who ever worked there still knows. Panthera runs discovery, vaulting, rotation and just-in-time access against those accounts.

02

An answer for the insurance questionnaire

When it asks how many privileged accounts exist and how often their credentials rotate, Panthera gives you the count and the rotation record behind it.

03

One platform, with the AI doing the work

The Prompt Terminal runs the rotation and clean-up a technician used to do by hand. Describe the job in plain language, check the plan, then run it now or put it on a schedule.

Platform scope

One platform for every phase

AutoElevate is built around elevation. Panthera is built around the privileged account, from discovery to the evidence an auditor asks for.

Panthera

All eight phases

  • Discovery of human and non-human privileged identities
  • Zero-knowledge vault for credentials, API keys and tokens
  • Zero-knowledge credential rotation
  • Least-privilege just-in-time access across servers, workstations and cloud
  • Privileged-access evidence generated on demand
  • Support for Microsoft government (GCC) tenants

CyberFOX

AutoElevate and Password Manager, two separate products

  • AutoElevate: endpoint elevation with mobile approvals and Blocker
  • Password Manager (formerly Password Boss): zero-knowledge password vault, purchased separately
  • Discovery limited to local admins on workstations
  • No credential rotation
  • No JIT for Entra ID or Google Workspace; domain JIT leaves the account and its groups in place
  • Elevation logs, not privileged-access evidence across every account
Discovery to evidence

Add the phases you're missing.

Start with one client. Discovery runs first, and the count of privileged and service accounts nobody had inventoried is the first thing you see.

Step 01

Run discovery on one client

See every privileged and service account across the client, including the ones nobody had inventoried.

Step 02

Vault, rotate credentials, generate evidence

Vault the credentials, turn on credential rotation and produce the privileged-access evidence that client's auditors and insurers ask for.

Step 03

Run every phase from one platform

Endpoint privilege management, risk scoring and app blocking sit on the same platform, with one audit trail from discovery to evidence.

Compliance evidence on demand

The privileged-access evidence your auditors ask for, generated for you instead of pulled together by hand.

Answers for the insurance questionnaire

How many privileged accounts exist and how often their credentials rotate, with the record behind it.

One platform instead of a PAM stack

All eight phases, from discovery and the vault to just-in-time access and endpoint privilege, run from one console.
